Timing or Synchronous belts often require special covers or backings.  Common timing belt backings include needled Kevlar, needled Polyester, needled Nomex, Linatex rubber, sponge rubber, and more.  Timing belt coverings can be found on both polyurethane (PU) timing belts as well as neoprene timing belts and in all pitches. The photo above depicts a polyurethane timing belt with a needled Kevlar backing.
